It calls for stepped-up prosecution of anyone providing or distributing abortion pills by mail. There’s a “top to bottom overhaul” of the Department of Justice, particularly curbing its independence and ending FBI efforts to combat the spread of misinformation. The ideas contained in Heritage’s coffee table-ready book are both ambitious and parochial, a mix of longstanding conservative policies and stark, head-turning proposals that gained prominence in the Trump era. Schedule F is just one more bullet in the gun,” Guy said. “We have a democracy that is at risk of suicide. But Schedule F could put tens of thousands of career professional jobs at risk. “It frightens me,” said Mary Guy, a professor of public administration at the University of Colorado Denver, who warns the idea would bring a return to a political spoils system.Įxperts argue Schedule F would create chaos in the civil service, which was overhauled during President Jimmy Carter’s administration in an attempt to ensure a professional workforce and end political bias dating from 19th century patronage.Īs it now stands, just 4,000 members of the federal workforce are considered political appointees who typically change with each administration. Much of the new president’s agenda would be accomplished by reinstating what’s called Schedule F - a Trump-era executive order that would reclassify tens of thousands of the 2 million federal employees as essentially at-will workers who could more easily be fired.īiden had rescinded the executive order upon taking office in 2021, but Trump - and other presidential hopefuls - now vow to reinstate it. “The president Day One will be a wrecking ball for the administrative state,” said Russ Vought, a former Trump administration official involved in the effort who is now president at the conservative Center for Renewing America. While many of the Project 2025 proposals are inspired by Trump, they are being echoed by GOP rivals Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy and are gaining prominence among other Republicans.Īnd if Trump wins a second term, the work from the Heritage coalition ensures the president will have the personnel to carry forward his unfinished White House business. The goal is to avoid the pitfalls of Trump’s first years in office, when the Republican president’s team was ill-prepared, his Cabinet nominees had trouble winning Senate confirmation and policies were met with resistance - by lawmakers, government workers and even Trump’s own appointees who refused to bend or break protocol, or in some cases violate laws, to achieve his goals. 1/23/2024 0 Comments Invisible wallpaperbetter yet, on a really small one tile window, so it's extra easy to place.) For now, however, I need to go eat food.įeyona I guess you might want to move this into the requests section? (I think I'm going to see if I can make a multiple wall segment cutout on a one tile window. But as long as the transparent textures work on a base game EA window and arch too, and assuming this is actually what you want, I should have something for you soon. Plus I assume you're going to want something Sims can walk through AND something they can't, so I'll need an arch to go with the window. I can't share anything with you yet, because I used the biggest goddamn window I could find, and even if the creator's TOU didn't only allow recolors to be uploaded to TSR and nowhere else, I had to clone the mesh because a recolor can't overwrite the mesh's cutout. (The full-wall cutout I already knew would be that easy - I knew one of the early window cutout tutorials ( this one) had been written in terms of 'these are the dimensions of a wall segment, and this is how you use those numbers to eyeball the coordinates of your window' and that I could use it to figure out the coordinates for a full-segment cutout.) I'm not sure how much of this will make sense to you, but in case anyone else wants to know, I tried replacing the textures (both frame and glass) with empty transparent ones just to rule it out as an option, because I didn't think it was that easy, but it actually was that easy. If none of that sounds helpful, perhaps you could explain what you want to accomplish and what packs you have, and someone may be able to help. If you want to control where Sims can and cannot walk, Bakie at MTS (and elsewhere) has an invisible "fence" (not a true fence iirc) that will do that. If you want to place objects that need to be placed on a wall, it's at least sometimes possible to place them with bb.moveobjects or other tricks. If you just need the room to be treated as a room, for example, there are fences that are just lines on the ground/floor that Sims can walk over, but they will still define rooms in the game if you need that to make something behave the way you want it to. However, depending on what you're trying to do, there may also already be a solution that doesn't require anyone to fill a request for new content, or you to learn how to make it, before you can use it. I'd be surprised if it's not possible to make windows (and an arch) that are all wall cutout with no frame, glass, etc., or at least very close to that. 1/23/2024 0 Comments Weed gas mask diyOnce the bong is filled with water and good to go, it needs to be attached to your gas mask. To start, fill your bong up with just enough water to not drown the stem. So, you purchased your gas mask bong and are ready to give it a go. Personalization is the name of the game here. Like the mask, the bong can be come in a wide range of materials like glass, acrylic, metal, etc and color schemes. Outside of DIY setups, gas mask bongs on the market today are designed to have the bong easily screw into the mask itself. There are two primary components to the gas mask bong - the gas mask and bong. At the end of the day, there are actually a lot of options out there for users. You can easily find gas mask bongs that look like military issue gas masks or even get your hands on a Darth Vader mask. Gas mask bongs can be found in a variety of shapes, designs, and color schemes. Additionally, because the bong is attached to the mask itself the user has increased freedom of motion with their hands.Īesthetically the gas mask bongis certainly unique and definitely makes a statement when added to one’s collection. Unlike a standard bong where the smoke is inhaled then exhaled into the air, the gas mask component is used to trap the smoke creating a sort of hot box. Mainly, users get extended use out of their smoking products. It turns out there are some advantages to attaching a gas mask to the end of a bong. We are all familiar with the bong and its uses for smoking. Basically, a gas mask bong is exactly what it sounds like - a bong attached to the end of a gas mask. That being said, the gas mask bong is certainly unique in the smoking experience it provides. It unknown as to how it came about or who the inventor is. You won’t be missing all that much. The gas mask bong has become something of a cultural icon in recent decades. If you have claustrophobia or breathing problems such as asthma, you should probably pass on the face mask. That said, it’s a cheap toy that could light up a good party – literally.Īlso, a word of caution: Were things to go catastrophically wrong, you could suffocate inside your mask. The weed face mask is definitely worth a whirl, but you won’t want to use it on a regular basis. And even with help, it’s hard to reload the thing without taking the mask off.įrankly, you’d do just as well to smoke a bigger bowl through a real bong. Plus, the bowl that comes with these masks is typically very small, so you really can’t get more than a couple of tokes at a time. At most, the mask made the high marginally stronger, but not enough so you’d really notice.įor one thing, it’s hard to hold your breath for any length of time inside the mask. After two or three rounds, we noticed little difference. Will a weed gas mask get you that blazed?īut the bigger question is whether it works. But if you’re at home, smoke in the face isn’t a very comfortable way to spend a night. If you’re in the midst of a pot party, it’s probably OK. The end result is that you feel red-eyed, greasy, and stinky when you’re done. Since there’s an airtight seal, it has nowhere to go, and as well as entering your lungs, the smoke also gets into your face and eyes. As you breathe through the bong, the mask fills with smoke. In both cases, your lungs and skin are saturated with cannabis.Īnd that’s part of the downside to this device. It’s similar to a hotbox, a closed container or vehicle filled with marijuana smoke. The gas mask’s novelty is what makes it work. If you’re alone, you can light the thing in a mirror, though that’s a little depressing. This is easiest if you’re with at least one other person, since you can’t see the bog’s bowl through the mask. Then comes the hard part: lighting the thing. A second, smaller hole, is then sealed so air can only enter the mask through the bong. Instead, the mouth of a special-made plastic bong is pushed into the hole. The mask contains a circular port, normally used to hold an air filter. The mask itself is placed on the face, and several straps are pulled behind the head to secure the mask and create an airtight seal. They’re possible to use alone, but you’d need a full-length mirror and a fair amount of dexterity. Weed gas masks are designed mostly for use at parties, expos, and other stoner gatherings. Still, for the experience alone, it’s a stunt worth trying at least once in life. To answer these questions, we tried out an unbranded weed gas mask from a local head shop. Why do people do this? Does it have any effect? Is it dangerous? The sight of a stoner strapping into a facemask and filling it with smoke can be a little jarring. From standard spoons to high-powered vaporizers, the options are almost endless.Īnd some of them are downright odd. If you should ever run out of new ways to smoke dope, it’s probably because you aren’t being creative enough. The light issue is more about how you use it then how much you have (um, well, that didn’t come out quite right, but you know what I mean), within reason of course (see comments on pico projectors above).Ĭolor accuracy is another biggie, but there’s not as much you can do to fix a projector with poor colors. If you can keep your room very dark (as in ALL dark), mount the projector at the close end of its recommended throw distance, and use a screen that maximizes the light and tosses out extraneous ambient light, then you can get away with a projector that’s less bright. Here’s what I mean-maybe you can’t afford a projector that blasts out 3,000 lumens across a hundred yards in a bright room. Well, it’s actually the darkness that matters more than the brightness. What good is a half-lit flashlight in the dark. The second first thing most people look for in a home theater projector is brightness. If you can fit it into the palm of your hand, it’s not a home theater product. Some of those pico projectors may claim they can fill a 100-inch screen, but the image won’t nearly compare to a full-fledged projector. The small, often called pico, projectors that use low-light output LED lamps are for business or other lightweight purposes and not for home cinema. The first thing to know is that for a real big picture experience, you need a projector built for home theater, and that means full 1080p resolution and a high-power lamp. When looking for a product in the $1,000 range, it’s actually easier to describe what you won’t (or probably won’t) get, and then you need to decide how you’re going to compensate. The things you’ll want for a budget projector are pretty much the same things you’d want from a high-end projector: contrast, brightness, color accuracy, flexibility and such. I’ll help you pick the best home theater projector for a DIY budget. If you want a big cinema screen experience in your home (or backyard) but don’t want to risk your kids’ college funds on the project, there are several good budget projectors for you. You can find projectors from $500 to several hundred thousands of dollars. Home theater projectors, like cars, boats and college educations, range from entry-level (or cheap) to outrageous. If there is a reason to revisit Episode I in 2023 beyond sheer curiosity, its bosses are not it. And though the game isn’t out yet, impressions of Sonic Superstars suggest it’s also superior to Sonic 4 (which Iizuka painted as a modernization of Sonic ’s classic gameplay during a recent interview ). Now, we have Sonic Mania, the most successful-and, arguably, only successful-attempt to emulate Sonic ’s 16-bit pedigree so far. One year later, Sonic Generations remixed familiar Zones to vastly stronger results. It isn’t even successful as a nostalgic throwback, especially in the wake of better alternatives. The regressive Sonic 4: Episode I proudly refuses to even attempt such a feat. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3 & Knuckles are laudable for introducing a wealth of new characters, baddies, locations, and ideas, pushing the still-nascent franchise forward. Episode II ‘s eyesores don’t quite capture that sense of escalation. He first springs for that utilitarian wrecking ball and gradually grabs more combat-centric gizmos. So, what’re my thoughts on the Egg Heart?Įggman’s mechs rise in complexity in Sonic 1. Given the sheer lack of enthusiasm surrounding Sonic 4 by that point, it’s not surprising their confidence waned). However, prior to Episode II ’s release, Sonic Team figurehead Takashi Iizuka claimed they weren’t planning a third. Ultimately, Sonic and Tails come out on top and escape, closing the duology (notably, Sonic 4 was conceived as a testbed for episodic content and, at some point, was envisioned as a trilogy. Its final one, the Egg Heart, resides at the center of its last Zone, the Death Egg mk.II it’s the literal heart of Eggman’s base. Episode II, conversely, mostly features new bosses. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I remixes bosses from Sonic 1 and 2 (Lost Labyrinth Zone’s generic boss is the lone exception, since its Sonic 1 counterpart, Labyrinth Zone, lacks a proper one). Eggman ceremoniously debuts with a wrecking ball that you can demolish within seconds? Slowing Sonic down to fight opponents for lengthy, elaborate one-on-one brawls just isn’t part of the appeal, something Sonic 4 struggles to understand… The Egg Heart’s History Remember the first Sonic the Hedgehog, when Dr. When they inevitably emerge, however, I want something consistent with the franchise’s breakneck pace. Generally, I don’t consider boss fights to be among Sonic ’s strengths. In further use I may yet find that the ethernet gets more contention than the direct thunderbolt would, but that's not been an issue yet. seems to work as well as the direct thunderbolt connection did although as noted, I am pushing it to prioritise the traffic, whereas the thunderbolt connection was fast enough without changing any defaults. I needed to opt-open prefs and set a connectivity rate to manual and drag it all the way to maximum (40MB/s / 320Mbps) and this. I'm also trying using a Thunderbolt 3 dock (Caldigit TS3), with the Luna Display dongle connected to the onward-facing thunderbolt port on the dock, and a real 4K monitor connected to the dock's DisplayPort, and using an ethernet connection from the dock, via a nearby switching hub (into which the iMac is also connected). Dragging windows, scrolling windows, using the trackpad is still responsive enough, and that's what I wasn't really expecting to be the case, so it's a bonus as far as I'm concerned. Just a little less smooth than the 60Hz display next to it.) This is acceptable for my use case. (It doesn't definitively tell me, and I tell it manually it can go up to 60Hz, but that's what it feels like. It's probably at the 45fps point, I'm guessing. All I see is that the refresh rate seems a little low. I basically don't see any pixellation or other compression artefacts. With a thunderbolt 3 cable directly connecting the two machines things were much better, and for my purposes entirely usable. I expected that, and always expected to use a wired connection. I did find on a wifi connection it was on the sluggish side latency was too high, and quite a lot of pixellation. I have an older 4K monitor, but the 5K on the iMac spoiled me. I'm a programmer, and most else I do is also mostly text-based, so what I'm looking for is super sharp text, and relative slowness of the display is of less importance. (But I will but it looks like I'll have had a year of use out of this by then.) My use case is, a 2021 MacBook Pro (M1Pro) as the primary, a 2019 iMac Retina 5K as the secondary.
