1/21/2024 0 Comments Good network scanner appI asked if he knew about this app Box, 3 different cable repair men said “ no, what’s that? I’ve never heard of it”! Well when they got upset due to me having a lot more information than him ( so I thought) they all on different days pull out their phones and I see the this app app on their phone! They couldn’t backpedal enough, throw out more lies and leave fast enough saying a supervisor would have to come out. I contact tech support and all I seem to get back is an auto response saying I’ve opened a ticket then 2 days later I’ll get another auto response saying “How did we do” word to the wise, If the cable co comes to service your home or business REMOVE this app AND DONT MENTION IT” they came out to my place and I told them the problems I’ve been having and he was very curious on how I knew all this information. Don't know how much better you can do for $20 on a Mac.Well seems like this app is doing what he’s supposed to,I think, not sure. I had all the normal devices on my network named and when I upgraded to the new version and then the pro version, it still had all the custom names I had entered. I used the older free version of IP Scanner that scanned up to 22 devices for many years. However, once you figure out what any device is, you can change the name of it in IP Scanner and it will remember that name in the future (I assume the program associates the new name with the MAC address of the device). Most other devices get a generic name that usually helps identify them, like "VoiP phone" and some devices come back as "unidentified device". The scan result identifies all the "main" devices (computers, printers) by a recognizable name such as the manufacturer or device model. A few reviews stated this app was slow, and I'm not a network professional, but on my small office with between 25 and 35 devices (usually), a scan takes about 5 seconds. The Pro version meets all my needs, and the free version seems to have the same features, but limits the scan results to something like 10 devices.
